MARY WALGREN
"The only important thing about design is how it relates to people."
~ Viktor Popanek (1927)
Great design doesn't have to make a statement; it simply has to work.
My journey began at home, rearranging my room and wallpapering my dollhouse. A summer internship working in the facilities design department of a major printing company led me to embrace my passion for design. After completing a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design at Mount Mary College, I continued to design both corporate and residential environments for that printing company. I then went on to design for Wisconsin's largest Herman Miller dealership, working with clients big and small, locally and nationally. I have been fortunate to work on a diverse selection of projects; healthcare, corporate, residential, entertainment venues, primary and secondary education spaces, even a house for a goat! It is my honor to share my design experiences with the students at Milwaukee Area Technical College, where I have been on the faculty for over 20 years. My MFA studies in Interior Architecture at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, have given me additional knowledge in green design concepts, interior codes and strategic planning processes.
It is my goal to create environments that are comfortable, efficient and uniquely in-tune with the occupants. With over 25 years of experience in interior design, I have learned to listen to my clients needs and observe how they use their space. That initial discovery is a gold mine of information that helps me develop the best design solution for your needs. I believe that every client is unique and every project is a new puzzle that we solve together.
